Older people's voluntary sector partnership
The Older people's voluntary sector partnership is administered by Age Concern Waltham Forest on behalf of the 90 or so community groups in Waltham Forest working for and with older adults. The 'partnership' members meet on a regular basis, receive training and work to agreed codes of practice.
Aims
The Older people's voluntary sector partnership aims to:
- to develop a strong and effective partnership of voluntary sector organisations
- to act as a single point of access to the voluntary sector for professionals and older adults
- to increse the capacity of local voluntary sector organisations
- to provide partnership members with information
- to support a culture of cross sector working which has feedback, organisational learning and service improvement at its core
- to address the social, cultural and emotional needs of people in order to promote indedpendence and quality of life
- to combat negative images of older adults and to encourge and enable more older adults to become involved in community activities.
To achieve these aims we:
- promote and maintain a formal partnership of voluntary groups
- have setup a database of organisations and their services
- work in partnership with local social services, health trusts and other local statutory organisations
- develop and maintain common assessment, referral, monitoring and feedback procedures with members and statutory organisations.
