Case Study
103 year old Mrs M was referred to the service by an assistant Social Worker.
She lives alone and her son visits weekly, usually at the weekends. She enjoys music and is very sociable.
Following an assessment visit M was referred to District Nurses regarding medication and the Handyman to have smoke alarms fitted, and a visitor was allocated.
Sadly M passed away on Christmas Day 2008. M’s son wrote:
“May I again thank you so much for the invaluable help you have given in assisting with looking after my Mother. Whatever I needed to know, you always came up with an answer.
A special thank you to R, whose support and weekly visits helped to give an interest to my Mother, who often felt lonely, but refused to go into a home. To give up her free time, after work, takes a very special person, and she is definitely one.”
