Link-up
We offer several services to isolated or housebound older adults.
Volunteer home visiting service
We can provide a volunteer visitor for housebound or isolated older adults living in Waltham Forest who offers friendship, company and encouragement to participate in social groups within the community. This service is limited to a six month period per person.
Telephone conferencing
We operate a telephone conference for housebound and socially isolated older adults. This involves a group of six people and a facilitator from Age Concern Waltham Forest being linked together for 30 minutes for a chat and lively discussion. These sessions are weekly for up to 8 weeks, and are free of charge. At the end of the eight weeks everyone who's taken part in the telephone conferences meets up for a coffee - and the chance to put a face to a voice!
Link-up support service
We provide a dedicated service to people who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness. Our sessional staff visit them weekly in their homes, taking them out when possible, for example, a bit of shopping, a drive, or just a coffee and a chat.
We accept referrals for this service from:
- The Margaret Centre
- MacMillan nurses
- Social Services
- Occupational therapists
- other health or care professionals.
